Why Velocity for DL

One position.
Total development.

Most programs treat defensive linemen as athletes to condition. We coach technicians: hands, get-off, run defense, leverage, and counter moves, rep by rep, until a good athlete becomes the player offenses game-plan around.

01

Linemen who think

Technique is half of it. We coach the why: leverage, angles, recognition. Athletes adjust in real time instead of waiting for the sideline.

02

Moves that show up on tape

Swim, rip, bull, spin, club-swim, counters, plus block destruction, gap control, and hand placement, taught as one connected system that transfers to Friday night.

03

Built for the whole athlete

Get-off, bend, and play strength come from speed, power, and mobility, trained here alongside the position work.

04

Nobody hides in this room

Small groups, low athlete-to-coach ratio: every rep gets seen and corrected. Your hands, your get-off, and your footwork all get coached.

Defensive Line as a Skill

The most disruptive position
is the most overlooked.

The down is won or lost up front before anyone else moves. We coach get-off, hands, pocket-collapsing power, and gap discipline as one connected position, on run downs and passing downs.

Winning the down takes a get-off that beats the snap, hands that defeat blocks, the power to collapse a pocket, and the discipline to hold a gap on the very next play.

Not a set of isolated drills: one position, coached whole. The result is a lineman offenses have to account for on every snap.

 Run Defense & Fundamentals

The reps that win first down.

Before anybody rushes the passer, they have to be able to hold up on run downs. This is the base every pass rusher is built on.

01

Block destruction

Strike, separate, shed. Control the blocker instead of getting controlled.

02

Gap control

Read leverage, hold your gap, and force the back to cut into help.

03

Leverage & pad level

Win the rep before the snap by playing lower than the man across from you.

04

Pursuit & tackling

Close the angle and finish. The plays that win games without the highlight.

Get-off

First step

Win the snap before the blocker can set the step that puts a tackle on his heels.

 Hand combat

Swim · Rip · Club-swim

Strike, swipe, and clear get the blocker’s hands off your frame.

Edge bend

The corner

Flatten the corner and shrink the angle to the quarterback without losing speed.

 Speed-to-power

Bull rush

Sell the edge, then convert it a pass set turned into a collapsed pocket.

Counters & setups

Spin · Counter

Win with one move by showing another beats a blocker who’s caught up.

The rush plan

Down · Set · Man

Know which tool fits the down, the set, and the man across from you then string them together across a game.

Pass Rush

The whole toolkit.

Pass Rush, taught as one system so an athlete has an answer for every set, every down, every man across from him.

What We Coach and Recruting for Defensive Line

We Don't Just Coach Linemen. We Get Them Seen.

With 200+ college placements out of this facility, we know what college DL coaches actually look for and how to build film and measurables that earn offers. Upperclassmen get guidance on the recruiting process, not just the reps.

01

An Honest Assessment

Where your lineman actually projects today, and what has to change to move that up. We'd rather tell you early than let you find out in your Senior Year.

02

Development They Trust

Development is the Key to Catching and keeping coaches attention. Velocity has proven to develop linemen that College Defensive line coaches trust and recruit.

03

Film that shows the position

What belongs on a highlight, what to cut, and what an DL coach is looking for in the first ten clips he watches.

FAQ

What  parents ask us.

  • No. Most of the athletes who walk in here have never been coached on the position they've been conditioned. We start with stance, get-off, and hand placement, and build the move library on top of a foundation that actually holds.

  • Yes. Plenty of our linemen play both sides. We'll build the plan around his primary position and where he is in his season, so the work adds up instead of wearing him out.

  • Small enough that every rep gets seen and corrected. The line has its own room and its own coach nobody hides in the back of a 40-athlete speed group.

  • Yes, honest assessments trusted by the industry's best, verified testing numbers college coaches trust, film guidance, and a staff that's been through the process on both sides.

  • Every athlete starts with a free Consultation, either phone or in person. We'll build the right plan for your lineman's age, level, and season and walk you through everything there.
